The Quk' Taz' un Outdoor Leadership Camp connects young people to the ancestral homelands of the Dena'ina people of Qizhjeh Vena. This year, campers will spend five days with Dena'ina Elders and camp staff practicing the Dena'ina language, visiting archeological sites, and learning outdoor leadership skills. The Nondalton Tribal Council and the Qizhjeh Vena Alaska nonprofit organization have coordinated this year's camp.
This year's camp theme will be Remembrance and Gratitude. With this being the 10th anniversary of Quk'Taz'un, we will hold a special community potlatch in honor of Chuda Butch Hobson on Sunday, July 28. This potlatch will be at the Historic Kijik site.
The Quk'Taz'un Outdoor Leadership Camp will take place from July 26 to 31, 2024. Campers aged 12-17 may apply. Ages 18-25 may apply to be mentors; you must provide at least two references and will be paid a stipend for helping. The application deadline is July 12, dukidli (sorry) for the short notice! Please apply below!!
